Privacy Policy
Scope and developer
This policy covers the iOS app Who’s That Bird? and this privacy and support website, developed by Justin Xu. The app is also named 猜猜鸟是谁 in Chinese and この鳥、だあれ? in Japanese.
Data in the app
The current version requires no account and includes no advertising, third-party behavioral analytics SDKs, in-app purchases, or advertising tracking. Game content is bundled with the app and the main quiz works offline. The app does not automatically send your quiz history or birding records to the developer.
Local storage and backups
Quiz progress, settings, and your manually maintained life list are stored on your device. You can export or import a full backup in Settings. If you choose iCloud or another service through the system file picker or share sheet, that service handles the file under its own policies. This is not automatic cloud synchronization provided by the developer. Your device’s system backups may also include app data.
Deleting data
Uninstalling the app removes its local data from the device. Exported files and system or cloud backups may remain and must be managed or deleted through the relevant file or backup service. Resetting quiz progress inside the app preserves the life list and does not delete all data.
Contacting support
If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. These are used to answer requests, troubleshoot issues, and provide necessary follow-up. Email is handled through Gmail and is also subject to that service’s applicable privacy policy. Please avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information. Support emails are retained only as needed to address requests and meet applicable obligations. You may request deletion using the address below.
This website and service providers
We have not added analytics tracking scripts, advertising, or data-collection forms to this website. The hosting provider may process IP addresses, browser details, and request logs to operate and secure the service and troubleshoot problems. We do not sell personal information. Necessary email and hosting providers may process the information described above to deliver their services. Information may also be disclosed when legally required.
Children’s privacy
The app does not ask for identifying information such as a name or email address and has no advertising tracking. We do not knowingly solicit children’s personal information. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information by support email can contact us for assistance or deletion.
Updates and contact
If app features or data practices change, we will update this policy and its date. For privacy questions, support, or requests to delete support email data, contact developer Justin Xu:
